In an iOS or Android app, is it possible for the app to force connections to different WiFi networks?

Steve

I am trying to write an app for work. It would be really cool if we could force the mobile device that it is running on to join various WiFi networks at various times. I've typically seen this being done at the OS level, rather than from inside an app. Does anyone know if this is (or is not) possible?

Answer
Yes it's possible for both!
