I am new to android and i have a tablet running gingerbread and i would like to know if there are app that are only for honeycomb or only for gingerbread ect... or if it doesn't matter and they can all run on any platform thank you.

Not many will or should sum so when you go to Market Android or AppBrain it sees your hardware first then OS and shows you what you're able to use. Also Gingerbread is far newer and uses way more processor speed and the Kernel on the tablet as well are far different.

is iRobot Apad capable of running android honeycomb?

I am planning to buy a iRobot aPad which has a current OS of Froyo 2.2... I was thinking if I could upgrade it to Honeycomb 3.2 since it has better features with the current froyo installed.

No, it is not capable of running 3.x, and probably never will be. You shouldn't expect much from these cheaper Chinese tablets.

Recently saw an auction on ebay for a nook color seller said it had android honeycomb does that mean its a routed device?

yes it is a *ROOTED* device if it runs a custom rom (honeycomb)
